Welcome to Dr. Pearce’s Researchtorium

The following animated GIF images are four short axis slices from an single intact mouse heart, which can be used to determine true Left Ventricular (LV) volume in vivo.  Each movie consists of 8 images that are looped over one heartbeat.  These are Steady State Free Procession (SSFP) acquired images taken on a 3T Siemens scanner with a TR = 37ms, and TE=8ms (flip angle of 60°).  The acquisition matrix is 384 x 384 pixels, and the pixel size is 0.1 x 0.1 x 1.2 mm.

We now have the ability to execute the MRI studies in San Antonio, rather than Dallas.  Since the conductance and admittance studies are also based in San Antonio, it assures a single anesthesia in each mouse having MRI followed by single frequency conductance/admittance studies.
